How the free PDF Editor works
This browser-side PDF Editor lets you edit selectable text directly in place, add annotations (highlights, underlines, strikethroughs, sticky notes), draw shapes (rectangles, ellipses, lines, arrows), insert images and typed signatures, and manage pages (reorder, rotate, delete, duplicate). All processing happens locally — your PDF never leaves your device.
Text editing uses PDF.js to extract text items with their exact positions, font sizes, and font families. When you edit, the original text area is masked with a whiteout rectangle and the new text is drawn using the closest standard font match (Helvetica, Times, or Courier families with bold/italic variants). Replacement text that would overflow the original bounding box is automatically scaled down to fit.
The editor supports multi-page navigation, zoom, rotation, Search & Replace across the current page, and preserves edit state across page changes. The export uses pdf-lib to rewrite the PDF with your changes while keeping all other content intact.
