WHY FILE MAKTAB

Built for everyday file problems.

Your files stay on your device

Local file tools process the selected file in your browser and do not send its contents to File Maktab’s server. AI features and other server-assisted services send the selected text or image to processing endpoints as described in the privacy policy. Separate operational telemetry may be sent without file contents.

No installation, no account

Every local tool works the moment the page loads, on desktop or mobile, without signing up. An optional free account only adds AI features and a small activity history — it is never required to convert, compress, or download.

Honest limits, stated up front

Each tool page lists what it can and cannot do: file-size limits, supported formats, and cases that need a different approach — such as scanned PDFs that require OCR before their text can be edited.

Batch processing where it helps

Compress several images at once, convert batches of images between formats, or run PDF compression and page exports on multiple files. A batch queue shows progress, and finished items can be saved together as one ZIP.

Chained file workflows

The File Workflow planner links compatible tools into ordered steps, so preparing a document — for example OCR, then summarize, then export — takes one guided pass instead of re-uploading the same file at each tool.

AI tools without surprising uploads

Summarize, translate, and OCR send content only to their dedicated endpoints after you approve. The assistant recommends the right tool from a plain-language goal, and nothing runs before you start it.

HOW IT WORKS

Three steps, done in the browser.

  1. Choose a tool or drop a file. Pick from the directory, or drop any file above and we will point you to the tools that can handle it.
  2. Review the settings. Each tool shows its input formats, limits, and options before anything is processed.
  3. Download the result. Local tools create the output in your browser and save it to your downloads. Requests sent to processing servers or external providers are covered by the privacy policy and their terms; they are not described as local processing.
