How do I combine several PDFs?
Open Merge PDF, add two or more files, arrange the order, and download the merged copy.
Can I split a PDF by page range?
Split PDF accepts page numbers and ranges such as 1-3. Delete Pages selects pages to remove instead.
Can I rotate PDF pages?
Rotate PDF adjusts page orientation; choose pages first if you want a subset.
Which image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, and WebP are converted in the browser. HEIC photos are decoded to JPG with a small helper library.
How does image compression work?
The compressor re-encodes JPG, PNG, and WebP images at lower quality and reports the saved size.
Can I crop to exact pixels?
The crop tool uses an on-image selection rectangle: drag to move it, resize the corners, and the numeric fields stay synchronized.
Can I clean photo metadata?
Remove Image Metadata strips EXIF and other non-pixel data before download.
Can I convert DOCX to PDF?
Yes — DOCX text is extracted into a PDF. Complex fonts, tables, and embedded media can lose fidelity.
Can I read a DOCX without Word?
The Word viewer converts DOCX to readable text in the browser without uploading the file.
Is there a character counter?
Character Counter counts characters in readable text and document metadata without a server upload.
How do I convert Excel to CSV?
Excel to CSV exports the worksheet you select in the preview. JSON to CSV accepts a flat array of objects.
Can I convert legacy XLS to XLSX?
Yes — the converter reads the workbook with SheetJS and writes a modern XLSX.
How does CSV dedupe choose duplicates?
You pick comparison columns; rows with identical values collapse to the first occurrence.
Can I convert images to PDF?
Yes — Images to PDF renders the selected images onto pages in a clean PDF.
How do I export PDF pages as images?
PDF to JPG and PDF to PNG render each page as an image file.
Can I sign a PDF?
Sign PDF adds a typed signature overlay to the chosen page.
Do AI tools need an account?
Yes — summarize and other AI tools need an optional account. Local PDF, image, Word, and CSV tools are free without an account.
How does AI image OCR work?
Uploaded images are sent to the server OCR endpoint, read, then deleted after processing.
What does the File Assistant recommend?
Describe a goal, for example compressing a document, and the assistant suggests the best File Maktab tool.
Where are my files stored?
Local tools process in your browser. AI tools send data to the AI endpoint and do not retain file content.
Does File Maktab see my documents?
For local conversions no content is uploaded. For AI tools, extracted text is forwarded to the AI provider.
How long are uploaded files kept?
AI endpoints delete the input after the response. Local tool inputs never leave your device.
Are there ads?
The free plan has a separate ad space; paid plans (Plus, Premium) remove ads.
What is the file limit?
The current limit is 25MB per file, with empty and unsupported files rejected.
Do I need to install anything?
No — everything runs in your browser or through the built-in AI endpoints.
