How to add a text watermark to a PDF while keeping the original
Make a review or preview copy marked DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL without replacing the source document.
Choose short, clear wording such as DRAFT or REVIEW COPY, and keep the original in a safe place.
Open Watermark PDF, upload the copy you plan to share, and enter the watermark text.
Download the result and inspect it to make sure the mark is readable without hiding important content.
A watermark is a signal, not a lock
A watermark alone is not access control or document encryption. Anyone with the file may still read, copy, print, or share it. Use the mark to communicate a document's status, not to protect confidential content by itself.
Choose text for the reader
Use one or two clear words such as DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, or SAMPLE, chosen for the people receiving the copy. Long sentences are hard to read when stamped lightly. A watermark communicates status; it does not tell the software who may open the file.
Current tool scope
The tool adds a light text mark to every page. It does not add image logos, custom placement, or a selected page range. Once stamped into the page, the text cannot be removed from that output as an editable watermark, so keep the unmarked source.
Review a copy before sharing
Apply the mark to a copy, then open the result on a phone or tablet and check that it is visible without hiding important text. Keep the unwatermarked original, because the stamped file is not a reversible edit.
Protect sensitive files separately
When access must be restricted, use a suitable access-control or encryption method, or avoid sharing the file through open channels. A visible watermark can remain as a reminder, but it is not a substitute for those controls.
